Finding Strength Through Adversity: My Journey as a Co-Author in Voices of Impact – Volume 4

I'm honoured to be a co-author in Voices of Impact – Volume 4, where I share my personal journey of overcoming trauma and how it inspired my life's work supporting children, families, and individuals. This chapter is a story of resilience, healing, and hope—a reminder that while our past may shape us, it does not define our future.

February 2023

I am incredibly honoured to share that I have become a co-author in Voices of Impact – Volume 4.

This opportunity has allowed me to do something deeply personal—share my story of overcoming trauma and how those experiences shaped not only who I am, but the work I dedicate my life to today.

Writing this chapter wasn't simply about looking back at difficult moments. It was about recognising that our past does not have to determine our future.

Like many people, I have experienced moments that challenged my sense of safety, confidence, and identity. Trauma has a way of changing how we see ourselves and the world around us. It can leave invisible wounds that others cannot see, yet they influence every aspect of our lives.

But healing is possible.

Through years of personal growth, education, professional experience, and the support of incredible people along the way, I discovered that resilience is not about pretending we are unaffected by hardship. It is about learning how to move forward despite it.

Turning Pain Into Purpose

One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that our greatest struggles can often become our greatest strengths.

Today, my work through Universal Knowledge Support Services (UKSS) and Universal Minds Therapy (UMT) is driven by that belief.

Every day I have the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families as they navigate their own challenges. Whether someone is experiencing anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, grief, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, my goal is always the same—to provide a safe space where they feel heard, understood, and empowered.

My own experiences have taught me that healing isn't about erasing the past.

It's about learning to carry it differently.

Why I Chose to Share My Story

Writing for Voices of Impact required vulnerability.

Sharing deeply personal experiences is never easy, but I believe stories have the power to create connection.

When we speak openly about our struggles, we remind others that they are not alone.

Too often people believe they have to suffer in silence or that asking for help is a sign of weakness. I hope my chapter encourages readers to see that reaching out for support is one of the bravest things we can do.

Healing doesn't happen overnight, and it certainly isn't a straight path.

There are setbacks, moments of doubt, and times when progress feels slow. But every small step forward matters.

A Message of Hope

If there is one message I hope readers take away from my chapter, it is this:

Your story is still being written.

No matter what you have experienced, your past does not define your worth, your potential, or your future.

There is hope beyond trauma.

There is strength beyond adversity.

And there is healing, even when it feels impossible to imagine.

I am incredibly grateful to be part of Voices of Impact – Volume 4 alongside so many inspiring contributors, each sharing stories that remind us of the resilience of the human spirit.

I hope that by sharing my journey, even one person feels seen, understood, or encouraged to take the next step in their own healing.

Because sometimes the most powerful impact we can have begins with simply sharing our story.

Building Stronger Families, Together: UKSS & UMT Partner with Noha

We're excited to announce our partnership with Noha, bringing together a shared vision of stronger families, sustainable living, and meaningful community. Together, UKSS and UMT will be creating immersive farm stays, sustainability camps, and nature-based experiences designed to help families slow down, reconnect with one another, and rediscover the value of living in harmony with the land. This is more than a partnership—it's the beginning of a movement towards healthier families, resilient communities, and a more connected future.

28th June 2026

At Universal Knowledge Support Services (UKSS) and Universal Minds Therapy (UMT), we have always believed that true wellbeing extends beyond the therapy room. Healing, learning, and growth happen most powerfully when people feel connected—to themselves, to one another, and to the world around them.

That is why we are incredibly excited to announce our partnership with Noha.

Together, we share a common vision: creating meaningful opportunities for individuals and families to reconnect with what matters most.

In today's fast-paced world, many families find themselves disconnected—not because they don't care, but because life has become increasingly busy, stressful, and technology-driven. We believe there is another way.

Through this partnership, we are laying the foundations for a range of experiences designed to strengthen relationships, encourage resilience, and foster a deeper appreciation for nature and sustainable living.

Coming Soon: Farm Stays & Sustainability Camps

Over the coming months, we will begin introducing a range of family-focused farm stays and sustainability camps.

These experiences are being designed to provide something that many people are craving—a chance to slow down.

Imagine spending time together away from constant screens and schedules.

Imagine children discovering where food comes from, helping care for animals, learning practical life skills, exploring nature, and developing confidence through real-world experiences.

Imagine parents having the opportunity to reconnect with their children through shared experiences, meaningful conversations around a campfire, and the simple joy of working together.

Our future camps will focus on experiences such as:

  • Sustainable living and regenerative practices

  • Gardening and growing your own food

  • Animal care and responsibility

  • Nature-based learning

  • Family connection activities

  • Wellbeing and mindfulness in nature

  • Practical life skills

  • Community building and collaboration

These won't be about perfection—they'll be about connection.

More Than Just a Weekend Away

Our vision extends far beyond hosting camps.

We believe that healthy communities are built when families support one another, children grow up surrounded by positive role models, and people rediscover the value of contributing to something greater than themselves.

By combining UKSS and UMT's experience in education, developmental therapy, counselling, and family support with Noha's vision for intentional, sustainable community living, we hope to create experiences that leave lasting memories and lasting change.

Whether families attend for a weekend, a school holiday program, or future community events, our goal remains the same:

To help people reconnect—with each other, with nature, and with a simpler, more meaningful way of living.

Join Us on the Journey

This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and we'd love for you to be part of it.

Over the coming months we'll be sharing updates, behind-the-scenes progress, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and information about our first farm stay experiences.

If this vision resonates with you, we invite you to follow our journey and stay connected.

Together, we can create places where families grow stronger, communities flourish, and future generations learn that caring for one another and caring for the land go hand in hand.

This is only the beginning, and we can't wait to share what's coming next.
